Since moving to Las Vegas in 2013, Cathryn regularly plays for weddings and special events for major resorts on the Strip such as The Wynn, Venetian, Bellagio, Caesar's Palace, and many others. She has substituted as principal harpist for the Las Vegas Philharmonic and performed with Vegas City Opera.
Graduating with Honors in 2006, Cathryn double majored in Comparative Literature and Harp Performance at Brigham Young University. Cathryn performed with, and helped direct the BYU Harp Ensemble for five years, and was the principal harpist for BYU's premier orchestra for two years.
Cathryn maintains a private harp studio of both children and adult students. She has completed the Suzuki Teacher Training courses and uses the Suzuki Method for private lessons. Cathryn believes strongly in Dr. Suzuki's philosophy that "every child can". She finds great fulfillment helping students become better musicians and human beings through music.
Cathryn began harp lessons at the age of eight years old. As a student, she traveled with her teacher and other students to perform for events in Chicago, Seattle, Australia, and Prague. She was among twenty young harpists who performed at the opening of the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas.
Her teachers include ShruDeLi Ownbey, Konrad Nelson, and Elzbieta Smzyt. Cathryn loves meeting individually with clients to choose the perfect music for their events - from purely Classical to Pop, Broadway, and movie scores.
Cathryn and her husband have four children and live in the Northwest valley.
