Harp Lessons

Cathryn teaches students of all ages and levels. She began Suzuki harp lessons at age eight and continued with the method until she graduated from all the repertoire. She attended Suzuki institutes every summer growing up as a child. She now brings her own students and enjoys attending as an adult for teacher training.

In college, she worked for the university as a student instructor, teaching private harp lessons to non music majors and also helping direct those students in the BYU Harp Ensemble.  Following graduation, she's enjoyed adding young children to her studio. She loves to find performing opportunities for her students and holds  individual student recitals as they graduate from the graded repertoire. She has completed several of the Suzuki teacher training courses and enjoys broadening her skill and knowledge of teaching.

Cathryn also spent two years teaching English as an adjunct faculty member at Lonestar Community College in Kingwood, Texas. She has taught piano and currently enjoys being the choir pianist at her church.

"I feel respect and friendly feelings for everyone. In particular I cannot help but feel respect and warm friendship for small children. And my heart brims over with a desire to help make all the children born upon this earth fine human beings, happy people, people of superior ability. My whole life and energies are devoted to this end. This is because of my discovery that every single child, without exception, is born with this possibility...

Teaching music is not my main purpose. I want to make good citizens. If children hear fine music from the day of their birth and learn to play it, they develop sensitivity, discipline and endurance. They get a beautiful heart."
